Radon Testing and Mitigation

Radon, a cancer-causing naturally occurring, invisible, odorless gas that comes from deposits of uranium in soil, rock, and water. The only way to know if you have a Radon problem is to test for it. The NC Department of Health and Human Services  http://www.ncradon.org has an informative web site on Radon. In addition, you can order inexpensive easy-to-use Radon test kits through them to check to see if you have a Radon problem. If you do, they also have a  list of radon mitigation service providers in North Carolina.

There are basically two ways to get rid of Radon. Residents of our community have tested their homes and installed these. One is a system that sucks the air out of the ground under your home. The other exchanges inside air between your house and outside while transferring the heat to avoid bringing in cold air in winter and hot air in summer. Note that since both usually require an exhaust port and/or venting to outside, contact Worthy to get board permission before starting such work.
